VIP Transfer Guide for Ski Tours

Turkey’s ski resorts are located at different distances from Istanbul; some can be reached directly by road, while others are accessed first by plane and then by a short transfer. In this article, we explain both nearby and distant options, as well as the practical details of transporting ski equipment.

Ski resorts near Istanbul

Kartepe (Kocaeli). Approximately 140 kilometers from Istanbul, with a travel time of about 1 hour. This short distance makes Kartepe one of the most practical options, especially for day ski tours — it is possible to go in the morning and return in the evening.

Uludağ (Bursa). Approximately 190 kilometers from Istanbul. You can go up the mountain directly by road, or travel by transfer to the cable car station in Bursa and then reach the ski resort by cable car in about 30 minutes. Ski resorts reached by plane

For farther ski resorts such as Erciyes (Kayseri) and Palandöken (Erzurum), traveling by road would take up most of the day, so these destinations are usually reached first by plane and then by a short VIP transfer from the airport to the ski resort. In this model, the role of VIP transfer is to handle the final and most practical part of the journey — directly from the airport to the hotel or ski resort, including equipment transport, as in the Bodrum example.

How is ski equipment transported?

In ski travel, the following items are carried in addition to standard luggage: ski/snowboard bag, boot bag, helmet, and ski clothing. Since these are bulky, they must be specified during booking:

• Groups of 1-2 people usually fit in a Mercedes Vito with standard luggage plus ski equipment.
• Groups of more than 3 people or cases where everyone is traveling with their own equipment require the larger luggage capacity of a Mercedes Sprinter.

If equipment information is not provided in advance, an on-site vehicle change may be necessary, so it is recommended to include these details fully in the booking form.

Seasonal demand and booking timing

The ski season (December-March) becomes especially busy on weekends and during the mid-term school holiday period. During these times:

• Day-trip demand to Kartepe and Uludağ increases noticeably on weekends.
• On days with heavy snowfall, traffic and driving conditions on mountain roads may change; in such cases, travel time may be longer than usual.

We recommend booking a few days in advance for vehicle availability during weekends and the mid-term holiday period.
